TAIPEI, Taiwan -- A 4-in-1 mega auto show, which encompasses the Taipei International Auto Parts & Accessories Show, Taipei International Automobile Electronics Show, Taiwan International Motorcycle Show and Taiwan International Electric Vehicle Show is set to be held April 9-12.
A total of 1,346 firms will showcase their products at 3,665 exhibition booths at NANKANG Exhibition Center & Exhibition Hall 1. Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), the organizer of the event, estimated the show will attract about 7,000 international buyers and 50,000 domestic buyers, making it one of Asia's biggest auto show.
Advance Auto Parts, the No. 1 auto parts dealer in the U.S. that employs 70,000 people in 5,300 stores, with annual sales reaching US$9.3 billion, will be attending the show. The company's senior manager will lead a procurement team to explore partnership opportunities with local auto industry players.
Other exhibitioners include Saf-Holland, a major commercial auto parts supplier from mainland China, Worldpac Inc., a wholesale distributor of original equipment automotive parts from the U.S., Sunstar Singapore Pte Ltd., a motorcycle parts supplier from Singapore and RAFI GmbH & Co. KG, an electronic vehicle manufacturing company from Germany.
In order to encourage product development and innovation, the event sponsor is organizing a competition, winners of which will be presented with the "2014 AMPA & AutoTronics' Innovation Awards." The Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) is charged to pick out 20 winners from four categories of products: auto parts, auto accessories, auto electronic end products, and auto electronic parts.
A number of factors including innovation, market value, contribution to the industry, energy conservation and aesthetic design, will be considered in selecting the winners. TAITRA said that a record high of 115 products were submitted in the competition, while some of them have already been awarded with patents.
Winning entries will be showcased at the Innovation Awards Pavilion at the Taipei AMPA and AutoTronics. In addition, the winning products will be catalogued in a special publication which will be mailed to international buyers at other international trade shows, such as the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) held in Las Vegas and Automechanika Frankfurt held in Germany.
In order to help exhibitioners explore new business opportunities, TAITRA will be holding one-on-one procurement meetings, facilitating business conversation between local businesses with buyers from Taiwan's major auto markets such as the U.S., Germany, Netherland, Britain, Spain, as well as emerging auto markets, including Eastern Europe, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.
