Chinese smart city experts to play part in Taipei expo

TAIPEI -- Key players in China's smart city development will be coming to Taiwan's 2014 Smart City Expo, making it into an opportunity for local firms to make contacts with potential collaborators in China.

Nearly 200 experts from 16 Chinese delegations are set to attend the expo, which will run Feb. 19-22 in Taipei, where the event organizer said they will assist Taiwanese IT and telecom companies in making inroads into China's growing "smart city" market.

The Taipei Computer Association said Wednesday that the market, expected to reach 1 trillion yuan (US$165 billion), is rich in opportunity for Taiwanese firms.

The expo itself will focus on smart living with technology, the application of telecommunications innovations, ties between smart cities and smart control of safety and security.
