A total of five seminars will take place in Taipei, Kaohsiung, Tainan, Taichung and Hsinchu on Oct. 15, 16, 17, 21 and 24, respectively, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) said in a statement.
Market experts and company representatives will share their insight into the markets, and e-commerce experts are also scheduled to give talks on online marketing, the statement said.
Citing reports by research firm IHS Inc., TAITRA said in the statement that Southeast Asian countries will drive economic growth in Asia over the next two decades.
Taiwan's exports to ASEAN economies totaled US$33.95 billion during the first seven months of the year, up 7.29 percent from the same period a year ago. Taiwan's exports worldwide grew 2.28 percent during the same period, according to official statistics.
The country's slow export growth and generally sluggish economy has led the government to take initiatives to expand or find new markets for Taiwan's products.
Because of global economic uncertainty and the need to find more export destinations, Taiwan has focused its trade promotion efforts mostly on emerging markets in 2013, the statement said.
