TAIPEI -- Taiwan has set its sights on Iraq in its bid to promote exports to that country, according to Taiwan's main trade promotion body.

The Iraqi government has been very active in opening its market to foreign countries after the United States completed its troop withdrawal from the second-largest country in the Middle East in December 2011, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) said in a statement Tuesday.

“There are huge reconstruction related business and investment opportunities,” it said, adding that there is massive demand for power supply equipment, infrastructure and machinery.
