IN Style 2012 fashion trade show to kick off in Taipei

TAIPEI -- Taipei IN Style 2012 (TIS 2012) is scheduled to kick off in mid-October in a bid to promote exchanges between domestic and foreign fashion businesses with an eye to penetrating the global market, the organizer said yesterday.

The annual fashion trade show will run through Oct. 16-18 at the Taipei World Trade Center Nangang Exhibition Hall, said the Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF), which is organizing the event for the seventh year.

A total of 124 local and foreign fashion business have applied to participate in the event so far and the number is expected to increase by the end of July when the TTF will close the application process, the federation said.

Besides exhibitors displaying designs in their booths, the TTF has arranged 10 fashion shows so designers can show off their creations on the catwalk to attract market attention, the federation said.

The goal is to attract more than 20,000 visitors, compared with 25,000 recorded last year, the TTF said.

Among the foreign exhibitors at TIS 2012 will be a delegation led by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. The group from Hong Kong will include designers Chow Tan Tan, DoDo Leung, Harrison Wong, Hei Lau, Hin Lee and Timbee Lo, as well as representatives from the fashion brand Modele de Prudence.

This year will be the fourth time that the Hong Kong council has led a delegation to attend the Taipei event.

In addition, Chinese fashion brand Donoratico, which was set up by designer Ding Yong, will introduce its collections at the trade show.

Among the Taiwanese designers, L'Amofirefly is expected to attract attention for its unique clothing and accessory designs.

Representatives from Asian Fashion Inc., Front Row Studio of Singapore, Headline Seoul, Frank of Thailand, Jewel Rocks of Indonesia and roomsLINK of Japan will attend the event as visitors and potential buyers, the organizer said.
