Multimedia show to feature heavyweight exhibitors

The 2012 Taipei Multimedia Show will kick off on July 6 this year with 180 exhibitors and nearly 600 booths, said organizer Top Link International Exhibition Co. yesterday.

The show will take place from July 6 to 9 at the Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall and exhibit some of the hottest digital products currently in the market, Top Link said during a pre-show news conference.

According to Top Link, exhibitors will include international heavyweights including Apple, Acer, AsusTek, Toshiba, HP, Sony, Panasonic, Canon, Nikon, Samsung, LG, Fujifilm and Olympus.

There will be six special pavilions at the show this year, namely computers, digital camera/technology, computer peripherals, video software/multimedia, audio-visual and the Internet, Top Link said.

Among the items to be on display, AsusTek will exhibit its tablet TF700T, Ultrabook model Zenbook Prime UX31A, and the N56 notebook that is multimedia-heavy.

Acer, meanwhile, will take to the show its Ultrabook Aspire S5 and the Aspire Timeline Ultra M5.

Manufacturers will also display various LCD TV, smart TV and 3D TV models. Capitalizing on government subsidies aimed at promoting next-generation, digitized television sets, manufacturers will offer a range of discounts to encourage buying. Some of the models will be sold for less than NT$10,000, while others will offer discounts of up to NT$10,000, Top Link said.

Taiwan has switched to all-digital broadcasting effective July 1. Analog-based broadcasting is no longer available in the government's latest effort to promote digitization.

At the same time, exhibitors will also offer various giveaways, including goodies that cost NT$1 apiece.
