US dollar falls against Taiwan dollar, loses NT$0.023 to close at NT$29.931
CNATAIPEI -- The U.S. dollar fell against the Taiwan dollar Friday, losing NT$0.023 to close at NT$29.931 as the local currency kept in line with its regional counterparts on hopes that central banks from the world's major economies will step up efforts to ease liquidity to boost the economy, dealers said.

Such optimism has been raised ahead of a meeting scheduled for next week in which the leaders of G-20 nations will hold talks on the world's economic fundamentals, they said.
However, trading volume remained moderate as many traders hung on the sidelines, waiting for the results of the June 17 parliamentary elections in debt-ridden Greece, which could exacerbate the debt problems in the eurozone, they said.
The greenback opened at NT$29.955 and moved between NT$29.810 and NT$29.979 before the close. Turnover totaled US$700 million during the trading session.
