United States investigates China on supposed dumping of silica bricksAFP WASHINGTON -- Washington announced Thursday a new trade probe aimed at China, investigating alleged dumping of silica bricks into the U.S. market by Chinese producers.
December 8, 2012, 12:05 am TWN Responding to a complaint by one U.S. manufacturer, Utah Refractories Corp., the Department of Commerce said that it would investigate whether Chinese producers were selling the bricks into the U.S. market at less than fair value. U.S. imports of Chinese-made silica bricks, refractory materials used for lining high-temperature furnaces, jumped from US$19.7 million in 2009 to US$43.2 million in 2011, the Commerce Department said. |
