Global mobile phone sales decline in 2012 on sluggish economy: GartnerCNA TAIPEI -- Worldwide mobile phone sales to end users fell in 2012 from a year earlier mainly because of the sluggish global economy, a U.S. based market information advisory firm said Monday.
February 20, 2013, 12:16 am TWN A total of 1.75 billion mobile phones were sold worldwide in 2012, 1.7 percent fewer than in 2011, Gartner Inc. said in a statement. It was the first year-on-year handset sales decline since 2009. “Tough economic conditions, shifting consumer preferences and intense market competition weakened the worldwide mobile phone market this year,” said Anshul Gupta, principal research analyst at Gartner. |
