Brazil textile industry expects 2% improvement over coming yearAFP SAO PAULO--Brazil's textile and garment production is expected to grow up to 2 percent this year based on an anticipated 3-percent expansion of the country's GDP, the industry said Monday.
January 23, 2013, 12:01 am TWN Aguinaldo Diniz Filho, president of the Brazilian Textile and Garment Association (ABIT), told a press conference that the industry should perform better than in 2012, when textile output fell 4.6 percent while garment production retreated 10.5 percent from January to November. He added that the sector should gross US$53 billion this year, down from 56.7 billion in 2012, in part due to the real's strength in relation to the dollar. |
