US surpasses European Union as the largest purchaser of Chinese exports

The value of U.S. trade with China increased by 8.2 percent year-on-year to reach US$438.62 billion, according to the ministry.

At the same time, China's exports to the U.S. increased by 8.2 percent to US$319.4 billion, and its imports from the U.S. went up by 8.1 percent to US$119.2 billion.

China's trade surplus with the U.S. has also increased in the year, going from US$148.3 billion in the first nine months to US$200.3 billion in the first 11 months.
