WASHINGTON -- The U.S. State Department Thursday refused to specify the capital of Israel, despite President Barack Obama's insistence that a reference to Jerusalem be restored to the Democratic party platform.
“Long-standing administration policy, both in this administration and in previous administrations across both parties, is that the status of Jerusalem is an issue that should be resolved in final status negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians,” acting deputy spokesman Patrick Ventrell said.
