Updated Saturday, January 26, 2008 0:00 am TWN, CNA MOEA signs cooperation deal with SonyThe signing ceremony — jointly presided over by Chen, Minister without Portfolio Lin Ferng-ching and SCET President Tetsuhiko Yasuda — was held on the opening day of the five-day 2008 Taipei Game Show at the Taipei World Trade Center Thursday. SCET agreed in the deal to work with its Japanese education partners to set up digital content courses at Taiwanese educational institutions for local individuals interested in digital content development. The courses will be taught by ace Japanese video game designers, said Yasuda, who is also the managing director of Sony Computer Entertainment Asia. Those taking the courses will be able to work hands-on with Sony game consoles PSP and P3 to develop games, and any outstanding digital content developed by the trainees will be made public at the Playstation store, Sony’s Playstation Network online shopping service. Sony Computer Entertainment indicated its interest in Taiwan’s gaming sector last month when it set up its Taiwan subsidiary, and the education program is one of its first major initiatives to tap into local talent. SCET will put detailed information regarding the courses on its Web site at http://asia.playstation.com in the near future. Subscribe to The China Post and save 25%. Click here |
