In order to make the structure and size of greater Taipei’s personal and yellow page directories a more convenient resource, CIYP has partitioned the original two directories into five parts, each organized in order of location in the city, said the spokesperson. However, the most anticipated part of the database is a comprehensive online mapping system of the island and keyword search engine, which can locate anything from a side-street to a bakery “just as long as they are listed in our database.” The hard copy of the phonebooks will be released in January. “Our Yellow Pages have come out of their cocoon to be born anew as ‘golden pages,’” said Chairman of CIYP Chang Fong-hsiung. Chairman of Chunghwa Telecom Ho-Chen Tan congratulated CIYP for “having already finished the preliminary stages of its database” for hiPage, which was promoted at yesterday’s event along with the free leisure magazine “Look, Look,” and the call-center “1288,” which Chen Chih-chen, director of the department, said allows “subscribers to have information sent to them on their mobile device, or via email. If the subscriber needs immediate assistance from the merchant, the system can transfer the call directly to that merchant.” The result is “convenience and instant information at all times,” Chen remarked. The map network also includes Penghu islands and Kinmen. CIYP is the first subsidiary company of Taiwan’s telecommunications provider Chunghwa Telecom, and was formed earlier this year. |
