Updated Thursday, November 15, 2007 0:00 am TWN, The China Post news staff Advanced textiles featured at Taoyuan showThe “2007 Exhibition of Accomplishments by Functional Textile, Fashion Design and Sports and Leisure Operators” has four main organizers: the Industrial Technology Research Institute, the Taiwan Textile Research Institute, the Taiwan Textile Federation and the Footwear & Recreation Technology Research Institute. The show is being held under the supervision of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA). The show’s opening ceremony was held in Tai Mall on Nov. 10, featuring the guest of honor Chen Jung-chin, vice director general of the MOEA’s Industrial Development Bureau, as well as textile leaders and scholars from throughout Taiwan. The opening ceremony saw plenty of special activities, including a fashion show, the final round of a handbag design contest, a still exhibition on highly functional textiles, a showcase of candidate designs in a fashion design contest, and a catwalk of models wearing advanced cycling outfits. The exhibition featured four themed pavilions, namely the Health and Living Pavilion, Sports and Leisure Pavilion, Fashion Design Pavilion and the Design Incubation Pavilion, demonstrating makers’ most advanced products resulting from their strong R&D capabilities. The pavilions were available only until Nov. 13. A special feature of this year’s exhibition is the presence of a trade mart allowing consumers to purchase some of the most advanced textiles at the show. These products include bamboo charcoal fiber textiles, moisture-wicking textiles, home decorative textiles, fireproof textiles, sports safety textiles, as well as textiles for medical purposes. As many as 30 exhibitors are taking part in the trade mart from now to Nov. 18 at the exhibition area on the B2 floor of the mall. |
