International Travel Fair to be held at Taipei World Trade Center

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The Taipei International Travel Fair (ITF), one of the island’s largest tourism-related shows exhibiting products and services of tourist operators from both Taiwan and abroad, will be held from Dec. 14 to 17 at Hall 1 of the Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC).

This year a total of 62 countries/regions will be represented at the show, with exhibitors occupying 1,168 booths, a new record for the exhibition. The organizer expects this year’s show to attract over 180,000 visitors during the four-day event, an increase of 10,000 from the 170,000 last year.

This year’s show will be divided into several pavilions, including the Asia Pacific Pavilion, the Europe-U.S.-Africa-Middle East Pavilion, the Taiwan Pavilion and the Hotel and Leisure Pavilion. Meanwhile, the Cross-Strait Travel Fair, which was held last year in conjunction with the ITF and caused a sensation among visitors with its virtual presentation of famous tourist spots of mainland China, will be held again this year.

Among the nations attending the ITF for the first time are: Greece, the Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Nauru, Tuvalu, and the Solomon Islands. Meanwhile, those that will make a comeback this year after being absent in last year’s show are: the Czech Republic, Fiji, Nepal, and Palau.

Among the 62 nations in attendance, Japan will continue to have the most booths, with 66 this year, followed by Malaysia (20), Korea (19), Hong Kong (12), Macau (11), the United States (11), Thailand (8), and Singapore.

As for Taiwan, the exhibitor with the most booths is the Council of Agriculture (45), followed by Taipei City (40), Yilan County (26), Lion Travel (24), Hualien County (22), Miaoli County (22), the Tourism Bureau (20), Nantou County (16), and Taitung County (15). Of note, Yilan County and Lion Travel each saw a booth increase of six to eight, representing their commitment to offering more diverse products and services to travelers.

Taiwan High-Speed Rail Corp., which began its bullet train service at the beginning of the year, will also take part in the show, providing information on the various train stations and train models for visitors. The company will also have a bullet train driving simulation game at its booth to delight high-speed train enthusiasts.

Meanwhile, a total of 34 seminars and product presentations will be held from Dec. 14 to 16 at the two conference rooms on the second floor of the Exhibition Hall 1. The meetings will discuss a wide range of topics and will be open to the public.
