Unknown powder sent to U.S. diplomats in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan -- Two American diplomatic outposts in Pakistan received envelopes containing an unknown white powder last week, sparking a security scare, a U.S. Embassy spokesman said Sunday. Tests are being conducted on the substance, spokesman Lou Fintor said, adding that a very small number of people had contact with the envelopes.

“No one has reported any symptoms of illness so far,” Fintor said, adding that they were under observation. “We’re taking normal routine precautions.”
