Nepal Maoists welcome removal from US blacklistAFP KATHMANDU, Nepal -- Nepal's ruling Maoist party on Friday welcomed a U.S. decision to remove it from a blacklist of terrorist groups after the end of a bloody insurgency, saying it would boost ties with Washington.

It will help strengthen our relations,” Foreign Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha told AFP. The decision to remove the Maoists from the blacklist was announced Thursday by the State Department, which said the party was “no longer engaged in terrorist activity that threatens the security of U.S. nationals or U.S. foreign policy.”
