Myanmar junta official meets with Aung San Suu Kyi

YANGON -- Officials say detained Myanmar's detained pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi was escorted from her home into unannounced talks with a junta official for the first time in two months.

Officials say the 45-minute meeting took place Wednesday between Suu Kyi and Relations Minister Aung Kyi at a government guesthouse near her home.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media.

Details of the talks were not immediately known.

Suu Kyi has been in detention for 14 of the past 20 years, mostly under house arrest.

A state newspaper on Wednesday published a commentary that accused Suu Kyi of using the media to make the country's military rulers look bad.
