Newspaper's terror stunt condemned by the police

WELLINGTON, New Zealand -- New Zealand police have condemned the actions of a Sunday newspaper which asked people masquerading as terrorists to smuggle fake bombs into two Super 14 rugby matches last weekend.

Spokesman Jon Neilson said police were unlikely to charge the Sunday Star-Times newspaper over the stunt in which an undisclosed number of fake bombs were carried into matches at Hamilton and Christchurch, apparently to test security measures.

Neilson said police had determined that no offense had been committed.
