Malaysia police hunt kids hammer assailant

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia -- Malaysian police hunted Thursday for a man who barged into a kindergarten and hit three children on their heads with a hammer.

The unidentified assailant climbed over a locked gate at the Sinario Kindergarten on Wednesday and stormed into a classroom where the headmistress was watching over 20 6-year-old children, said a district police official in southern Johor state. The man temporarily blinded the headmistress with pepper spray and swung his hammer at several students, hitting two boys and a girl on their heads before fleeing on a motorcycle, the official said on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to make public statements.
