Kaohsiung mayor to tout tourism in South Korea

Speaking at a meeting with city officials, Chen said she hoped the visit could help create more business opportunities for Kaohsiung City’s tourism sector.

South Korean tourists made about 21,000 visits to the port city in southern Taiwan in the first nine months of this year, up from the previous year’s level of 16,000, the mayor said, citing statistics compiled by the city government.

Chen said that on her mission to drive those numbers higher, she plans to tout the city to over 120 South Korean travel agencies and pay a visit to Busan City Mayor Hur Nam-sik.

The mayor, accompanied by the city’s economic affairs and tourism bureau chiefs, will fly to South Korea’s Incheon International Airport outside Seoul.
