Lightning kills 3 farmers in central Indonesia

JAKARTA, Indonesia –– Police say lightning killed three farmers as they were harvesting

rice on Indonesia’s main island of Java. The incident occurred Wednesday in Kebumen village during a heavy downpour.

Police Sgt. Ahmad Marsudi says two men died instantly, while the third died of burns in a nearby hospital less than 24 hours later.

The men were thrown several meters across the rice paddy by the lightning bolt.
