JAKARTA, Indonesia -- An Indonesian Air Force helicopter burst into flames after crashing into a sug
arcane plantation Tuesday, killing the pilot and critically injuring another person on board, a military spokesman said. It was not immediately clear what caused the accident in Subang, a district in West Java province, but witnesses told El-Shinta radio they heard an explosion before the Swiss-made Bell helicopter went down. The pilot died instantly and a mechanic was hospitalized in critical condition, said spokesman Chaerudin Ray.
