Indian boy loses limbs over 50-rupee note row

BHUBANESWAR, India -- A 13-year-old boy lost an arm and a leg after being pushed out of a moving tra

in in eastern India, allegedly by a railway employee following a dispute over a 50-rupee note, officials said. Doctors attending the victim, identified only as Shankar, at a hospital in Rourkela in Orissa state, 476 kilometers west of the capital Bhubaneswar, described his condition as critical.

The incident occurred Wednesday when Shankar, who makes a living by sweeping railway compartments, found the 50 rupee note (worth just over a dollar), under a seat while cleaning.
