South Korea salvage firm begins operation to lift sunken ferry
A salvage firm Sunday began a difficult and costly operation to raise a sunken South Korean ferry which capsized at sea more than two years ago in a disaster that shocked and enraged the country.

South Korea sends military boats to repel Chinese fishermen
South Korea sent military vessels to repel Chinese fishing boats that were illegally harvesting prized blue crabs near the disputed sea boundary between the Koreas before the fishermen retreated Friday, South Korean officials said.
 
Three men have been detained in South Korea for allegedly gang-raping a teacher on a remote island, police said Thursday, with two of the suspects believed to be parents of the woman's students.
