, police said Friday. Three people on a motorcycle rode up to Jose Loreno, local chief of the Movement Against Communism group, as he was standing in front of his store in Daraga town late Thursday. A woman got down from the motorcycle and shot him twice in the head, the police said.
Police would not immediately name any suspects but the killing follows the style of previous urban murders of the communist New People's Army (NPA). Loreno, formerly a radio announcer, joined the NPA in the 1990s but was later arrested. He then switched sides and became leader of the Movement Against Communism, which holds protests against NPA activity.
