Gate Dance Theatre composed of Cloud Gate’s younger dancers, kicked off an islandwide “Spring in the Hospital” tour yesterday with a performance at Taichung Hospital in central Taiwan. The dancers performed selected parts of the troupe’s productions “Tantalus,“ “Love Story” and “Body, Sound,” in the hospital’s lobby, to the delight of patients and staff.
An 82-year-old male patient surnamed Chen and a 91-year-old female patient surnamed Lin who were taken to the lobby in wheelchairs by hospital staff said they had heard about the troupe but had never had the opportunity to see any of its performances before.
Both said that seeing the troupe perform live was a wonderful experience that filled them with joy.
During its tour, which will run until October 24, Cloud Gate 2 will stage 19 performances in 18 hospitals islandwide.
