TAIPEI -- American singer-songwriter Jason Mraz revealed Friday that he will be performing his hit song “I'm Yours” at Taiwan's Golden Melody Awards Saturday.
The Grammy-winning artist, who is visiting Taiwan to promote his new album “Yes!,” due to be released July 15, is scheduled to perform at the Golden Melody Awards ceremony with Los Angeles-based eclectic folk-rock band Raining Jane and Singaporean singer-songwriter JJ Lin.
“I think it's going to be a great collaboration,” the 37 year-old singer said at a press conference in Taipei.
“We're definitely singing 'I'm Yours'” and possibly other songs, Mraz added.
“I'm Yours” remains Mraz's biggest hit single in the United States. Since being uploaded, the official music video of the song had been viewed over 179 million times on YouTube as of June.
Meanwhile, the singer, who is visiting Taiwan for the fourth time, gave his Taiwanese fans a heartfelt message.
“The kind of love that you showed me, I hope it's equal to the kind of love that you show everyone else in your community, your family and your friends,” he said. “'Cause I feel the love incredibly, so thank you for continuing to spread that.”
Mraz said love is the main message behind all his albums, including “Yes!,” and one that he is fascinated with and wants to keep re-telling.
“I believe everything that we say is either 'I love you' or 'I want love,'” he said.
The singer said he has many people to thank for his music career, including his management team and the community of people around him that have believed in his potential.
“And I'd also like to thank the 18-year-old kid that I used to be that had a foolish dream that he could be successful in music, because without him I wouldn't be here today.”
The 25th Golden Melody Awards, the largest music event in Taiwan, will take place at the Taipei Arena June 28.
