Mayday band to perform at Singapore Grand Prix

TAIPEI -- Beloved Taiwanese rock band Mayday will bring their high-energy music to the 2014 Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix in September, event organizers said Tuesday.

Mayday's performance at the Sept. 19-21 grand prix will be the first time the annual event has featured a Mandarin-language band since it began seven years ago, said the Singapore Tourism Board, which is eyeing the influx of tourists as a chance to build up a "Grand Prix Season."

"Mayday enjoys great popularity in Asia and could add more colors to the event," said Kwan Su Min, the tourism board's director for the eastern China region.

She explained that Grand Prix Season would include a huge tourism package that ranges from world-class sports events to entertainment and the country's well known glamorous night life

"the country's well known glamorous night life" And not forgetting that they are not renewing the License of the Most Famous and Popular Zouk Club!!!

"The founder of Zouk, Mr Lincoln Cheng, says he is tired of getting short lease extensions for the popular dance club's Jiak Kim Street site.

If he does not get a three-year extension he is now requesting, he will close the 23-year-old iconic nightspot for good by the end of this year. Currently ranked No.7 in the world by DJ Mag, an influential UK music magazine, Zouk has become an internationally recognized name on the global club circuit. " (excerpt from Straits Times Singapore)
