Award-winning musicians to perform at Golden Melody

TAIPEI -- A music festival to promote this year's Golden Melody Awards, Taiwan's equivalent of the Grammys, will feature concerts by past winners and nominees of the awards, organizers said.

The Golden Melody @ Live House Ticketed Concerts will feature 18 musicians, including Singapore's Olivia Ong and Taiwan's William Wei, reggae-rock band Matzka, rock duo Power Station and Vancouver-formed rock band io.

A total of six concerts will be held from June 25-27.

The concerts are part of the first Golden Melody Global Music Festival, which is being held to promote the Golden Melody Awards and includes lectures, concerts, exhibitions, forums and music workshops.

Matzka, lead singer of his eponymous band, invited the public to the event and said his band is scheduled to perform 8 or 9 songs.

The 25th Golden Melody Awards ceremony, jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture, Taipei City Department of Cultural Affairs and Taiwan Television Enterprise (TTV), will take place June 28 at the Taipei Arena.
