Johnny Cash's jumpsuit auctions for US$50,000The plain blue suit was made famous in a photograph that became known simply as “The Finger,” in which the much-troubled singer sneeringly flicks a one-digit salute to the camera as he rehearsed for a concert before the inmates of San Quentin State Prison in California. A Johnny Cash shirt went under the hammer for US$31,250, a rare poster sold for US$25,000, while knee-high boots he once wore were bought for nearly US$22,000, said Beverly Hills-based Julien's Auctions. The “Man in Black,” whose biggest hits include “Folsom Prison Blues,” “I Walk the Line” and “Ring of Fire,” died at 71 in September 2003, four months after his wife June. He was the subject of the 2005 biopic, “I Walk the Line,” starring Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon. | |||||||||||||
