Tenor Salvatore Licitra to perform one show in Taipei

The tenor will be performing only one show with Taiwanese maestro Felix Chen (陳秋盛) and the Taipei Symphony Orchestra (台北市立交響樂團) at the National Concert Hall (台北國家音樂廳) in Taipei.

“Licitra is exceptionally gifted. His high notes are powerful and solid.” said Taiwanese opera singer Ren Rong (任蓉).

He has headlined at leading opera houses worldwide, including The Metropolitan Opera in New York, the La Scala in Milan and the Arena di Verona in Verona.

It will be the tenor's fifth visit to Taiwan. He first came to Taiwan in 2004 on invitation from Frank Huang (黃崇仁), chairman of Powerchip Technology Corporation (力晶科技股份有限公司).

Huang had been mesmerized by the tenor's voice after attending one of his performances overseas. Together with International New Aspect Cultural and Educational Foundation (國際新象文教基金會), Huang introduced Licitra to the local audience.

On Oct. 9, Licitra will perform a program of selected opera pieces from Giuseppe Verdi, Umberto Giordano, Pietro Mascagni, Giacomo Puccini and Ruggiero Leoncavallo.
