Updated Friday, November 27, 2009 10:43 am TWN, The China Post news staff Spring Wave Festival debuting in TaipeiThe acclaimed one-day concert will take place in Taipei City, kicking off Nov. 28 and expected to draw hundreds of thousands of music lovers to partake in and party the night away from 9 p.m. through 3:30 a.m. at Shin Kong Mitsukoshi A10 square. Besides New Year's Eve celebrations, the overnight outdoor activity will be unprecedented for Taipei. Unlike regular nightclubs and house parties, SWMAF creates an outdoor techno party, featuring a spirit of fun and great music. Inviting world famous musicians, including DJ Lange from Britain, Australian techno band Infusion, Taiwan-based all-around entertainer Liu Xuan and German supermodel Miss Nine, SWMAF aims at intoxicating audiences with non-stop bumping beats. This festival has kicked off annually at Kenting, Pingtung County, for four straight years, successfully marketing the city as well as bringing business to local merchants. Taipei, on the other hand, aspires to become an international cosmopolitan destination by offering entertainment that appeals to various cultures -- techno music included for sure. This small step, said Liu Jia-chun, head of Taipei City Commerce Office, is going to be a big step toward promoting the city. Subscribe to The China Post and save 25%. Not only is the season out of season, but also the music is outdated. To make matters worse, the promoters brag about a "supermodel". This is clearly a state-sponsored ploy to cultivate consumerism rather than culture. December 1, 2009 cigars898@ What a marketing fumble, just call it the WWF Winter Wave Festival. December 6, 2009 ilovebeer@ The young and old will enjoy it. You just stay in Netherlands and puffy puff puff your cigars. |
