‘He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother’: Osmonds

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The renowned U.S. musical family troupe, The Osmonds, are giving Taiwan audiences their first chance in decades to get up close and personal as the veteran virtuosos gear up to take back the stage in their 50th Anniversary Concert in Taipei 7:30 p.m. Sunday June 8 at Taipei Arena.

The singing sensations Alan, Wayne, Merrill, Jay, Donny, Marie and Jimmy have announced a nostalgic tour back to the days where their 1970s hits earned them world renown and a place in the musical hall of fame.

However, amid such a enthusiastic success story, The Osmonds have shown compassionate awareness for those left behind by the wave. Numbering a total of nine siblings, two of the Osmond clan have struggled with hearing disabilities and fell short of hitting the music charts.

However, in a powerful display of affection and appreciation through such musical hits as “He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother,” the seven-member troupe have used their musical talents to lift the two left-out brothers to new heights.

The effort to inspire love and compassion for those facing disability or hardship will be one of the themes of the upcoming event, which has inspired them to not only remember their past successes, but also again lift their brothers with them.

Other songs to be performed include the hits “One Bad Apple,” “Puppy Love,” “A Little Bit County” and their “Sound of Music.”
