Female photographers tell stories

In the glare and blare of the congested streets of central Taipei, an area remains silent in sound, but visually deafening in the stories it has to tell with photographs. The U Space Gallery, a café turned art gallery, exhibits a captivating collection of three very different but amazing women photographers.

Janice Leu (呂豔芳) presents her majestically beautiful photographs of scenery shots taken all over the world. Her photographs portray the rural corners of the world, previously left quite untouched by modern civilization, pulsating with the lives of those captured in the photographs.

Angeline Chen (安蕎琳) creates another self from the use of her body through the gaze of a dimmed camera lens. Her art is told through darkened shades contours of a rigid poem; that even in death, all must be elegant.

Wang Chien-yu (王茜瑜) clicks her life story into a connection of dialogues of lingering images of the beautiful life in Taiwan. ■
