Updated Wednesday, September 13, 2006 0:00 am TWN, The China Post staff Air Supply will be back on Taiwan tour next monthFollowing its three successful concerts here in May, the popular duo is scheduled to come back to give another performance as part of its worldwide farewell tour, the concert’s organizers, Brokers Brothers Herald, has announced. The upcoming concert will be staged on Oct. 30 at 7:30 p.m. at the Taipei International Convention Center. This time, the band will perform its popular hits, including love songs such as “Lost In Love,” “All Out Of Love,” “Now And Forever,” and “Without You.” Air Supply, consisting of guitarist-vocalist Graham Russell from England and main lead vocalist Russell Hitchcock from Australia, has been on the top of U.S. charts for many years since it was formed in 1975. In the mid-80s the band enjoyed the peak of its popularity. The duo was one of the first bands to hold a concert in Taiwan and has created a splendid history for thousands of followers. In 1983 the band brought soft Western music phenomenon to Taiwan when it first performed here. Since then, Taiwan has been a regular stop on its tours. During its Asian tour in 1995, the live concert in Taipei — accompanied by the 16-member Taipei Philharmonic Orchestra — was completely recorded for their album “Now and Forever: Greatest Hits Live”, which also stayed at the top of the Chinese album charts for 16 weeks. The album has sold more than 500,000 copies in Asia alone. Among its popular albums which have sold more than 20 million copies worldwide, “Lost in Love” was named “The Song of the Year” in 1980. The organizers said more than 80 percent of the tickets were already sold after intense requests from fans.
