Taiwanese twin sisters applauded on Ellen DeGeneres Show in US

LOS ANGELES -- The scene of Taiwanese twin sisters “Zony”and “Yony” dancing to a Korean pop song that was broadcast Thursday on U.S. TV showed the children getting a standing ovation from the audience on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Wearing pink scooter helmets, denim vests, pink tutus and rainbow stockings, the 6-year-old pair danced to South Korean girl group Crayon Pop's song “Bar Bar Bar” in front of DeGeneres and her audience.

The twins' skilled dance moves and endearing personalities stole the hearts of the audience, and DeGeneres, who hosted the Academy Awards ceremony this year, invited them to appear on her show again May 12, when they will perform a dance choreographed by the show's guest DJ/dancer Twitch.

The show's clip of them dancing got nearly 330,000 hits within 22 hours on YouTube, much more than other clips uploaded at around the same time.

DeGeneres introduced Zony and Yony as twins from Taiwan and hugged them both.

Although the American comedian had to ask questions through an interpreter, the twins were able to answer some of the questions in simple English.

When DeGeneres asked how to tell the twins apart, Zony said: “I am beautiful,” while Yony responded: “I am cute.”

DeGeneres then asked how they celebrated their 6th birthday, to which both of them responded simultaneously “cupcakes,” which amused the host.

After the twins' live performance, DeGeneres presented them with gifts of tickets to Disneyland, toys and helmets.

The twins became a hot topic in Taiwan after a clip of their dancing went viral with over 1.7 million hits on YouTube since being posted in February, and they have been invited to perform on several Taiwanese TV shows.

DeGeneres' show is not new ground for Taiwanese viewers, after surprise hit singer Lin Yu-chun, dubbed “Taiwan's Susan Boyle,” had a guest appearance on the popular show in April 2010.
