TAIPEI -- South Korean actor and singer Kim Soo Hyun, who shot to international fame with his role in the hit TV series “My Love From the Star,” will sing for his Taiwan fans and try his hand as a pastry chef in Taipei Saturday.
During the two-hour fan meeting, the 26-year-old entertainer is expected to sing five songs and also decorate a cake for those fans whose birthdays fall on Saturday, the promoters said Wednesday.
The songs will include “In Front of Your House” from the soundtrack of “My Love From the Star,” and “Dreaming” from the 2011 TV series “Dream High,” in which Kim starred, said the entertainment company Mugeng.
The fan meeting, dubbed “1st Memories in Taiwan,” is part of Kim's promotional Asian tour that kicked off in Seoul in mid-March and will take him to eight cities in six countries.
Upon arrival at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport on Friday, he will be assigned a 20-member security detail, Mugeng said, anticipating a rush of excited fans.
Kim became a household name in South Korea in 2011 after he starred in the teen drama “Dream High,” and shot to international fame after he played an alien in “My Love From the Star.”
The film is a romantic comedy about an alien who lands on Earth and falls in love with a South Korean actress, played by Jun Ji Hyun.
The movie has gained high viewership ratings in South Korea, China and Taiwan and has been viewed 14.5 billion times on China's leading video website iqiyi.com since it debuted in December.
Kim is scheduled to leave Taiwan for the Chinese city of Shanghai on Saturday.
