Schumacher shows slight improvement, still at risk

GRENOBLE, France--Formula One legend Michael Schumacher's condition has shown a slight improvement after a second operation following his weekend ski accident but he is not out of danger, doctors said Tuesday.

“We are surprised by the improvement,” one doctor said at a press conference, adding that the medical team had “gained some time.”

The second operation was performed to remove blood in the brain but the seven-time world champion is still critical and his condition is fragile, the medical team said.

Schumacher is still being kept in a medically-induced coma after the accident in the French Alps on Sunday.
