Hotai to mark Lexus anniversary with Chicago Symphony concertThe China Post news staff TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The Chicago Symphony Orchestra will hold concerts in Taipei Jan. 25-26 and Hotai Motor Co. has become a key sponsor for the performances that celebrate the 15th anniversary of the introduction of luxury Lexus cars into Taiwan.
January 25, 2013, 12:01 am TWN The prestigious orchestra, established more than a century ago, will present a classical music program on the opening night of Jan. 25. Finnish conductor Osmo Vanska will lead the orchestra's performances after Italian conductor Riccardo Muti abruptly canceled his Asian tour due to illness. Taiwan-born violinist Robert Mu-rong Chen will play Felix Mendelssohn's “Violin Concerto in E minor No. 64” on solo violin. The orchestra will hold an evening of Beethoven the following night. The pieces to be featured will include Beethoven's “Symphony No. 3 in E flat major” (Eroica), Mozart's “Symphony No. 41 in C Major” (Jupiter), and Brahms' “Symphony No. 2 in D Major.” Hotai Motor is the sole sponsor of the premiere performance at the National Concert Hall in Taipei, as a show of appreciation to Taiwan customers of Lexus cars manufactured by Toyota of Japan, said executives of the Taiwan company which has been the marketing agent for Toyota. All Lexus owners are entitled to a 5-percent discount on tickets while those who book two tickets will be offered extra incentives like program brochures, free drinks and parking tickets.
