Taiwan exhibits Millet’s works

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- A Taiwan museum says it will stage a special exhibition of the works of Jean-Francois Millet and other famed French painters on loan from Paris.

The three-month exhibition will display 43 paintings from the Musee d’Orsay, including Millet’s most famous works — the Gleaners (1859), the Angelus (1860), and the Shepherdess with Her Flock (1863).

It will open in Taipei on Saturday.

The National Museum of History said Tuesday the three Millet masterpieces arrived this week in three separate freighters together with other paintings.

This is the first time the Paris museum has loaned the three Millet paintings at one time for a foreign exhibition, it said.

The Musee d’Orsay made the loan ahead of a major renovation.
