Keelung Fairy Tale festival to culminate with parade

KEELUNG, Taiwan -- The month-long 2008 Keelung Fairy Tale Art Festival will culminate April 26 with an Ocean Dream Carnival Parade before coming to an end the following day.

Organizers said 60 teams with a total of more than 5,000 people will participate in the 1.8 km parade through the city of Keelung between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.

There will be a variety of floats featuring different motifs, such as marine life, Aladdin — hero of one of the best-known stories in The Thousand and One Nights — and Cinderella’s Pumpkin Carriage.

The floats will lead more than 2,000 children dressed like fairy tale characters, as well as teams of Samba dancers.

The Keelung Fairy Tale Art Festival is organized by the Keelung city government and the Yangming Marine Transport Corp. Cultural Foundation, with the assistance of 23 of the city’s government agencies and civic organizations.
