Van Gogh painting to go on sale for US$30 million

AMSTERDAM -- Vincent van Gogh’s “The Child with an Orange,” painted during the last weeks of his life, will go on sale at an art fair in Maastricht, the Netherlands.

A Swiss family, which has owned the painting since 1916, will offer it for sale for more than US$30 million, Maastricht-based The European Fine Art Fair, known as Tefaf, said in a statement.

The picture was painted in June 1890, a month before Van Gogh died. The fair runs from March 7 through March 16.
